I think the main thing that bothers me is the fact that these people protested for the park to open. In a pandemic. In a pandemic that we are still in. They don’t care about all the workers putting themselves at risk so they can ride a rollercoaster or eat a $20 pretzel. https://twitter.com/phil_lewis_/status/1388254344097804289
I’m sure that Disney makes them happy but we are in a global pandemic. There are people who missed events that made them happy like concerts and parties. But there are also people that missed events that made them sad like funerals to mourn the ones they lost from covid.
Millions of people have died. Millions of people have missed their funerals. I have missed the funeral of my own grandmother. I couldn’t even see my family to mourn.
It just kind of irritates me that all these businesses and people are acting like we are over the pandemic and like covid is just gone. It’s not. Just because there’s a vaccine does not mean the pandemic is over. And to put people at risk just so you can ride a ride is selfish.
Apparently it’s not clear but when I say “these people” I’m not referring to the people specifically in the pictures. I’m talking about the hundreds of people who protested for Disney parks to open in a pandemic last year.
There is no reason for Disney parks to be open. None. We are still in a pandemic and people are still dying. It doesn’t matter how bad people want parks to be open. It’s putting people at risk to catch covid.
Disney as a corporation is at fault too. I’m sure they’ve lost employees and yet reopening opens them and their employees to more loss.
