OK, so, this is going to make me public enemy #1 on this fine Saturday, but I'm working on a vid and want to share this. This is Ninty's Switch lineup. Impressive, isn't it? Any game company would kill for a lineup like this. Now let's remove remakes/ports and see how it looks--
These games are 100% made for Switch. Still a pretty healthy lineup of Mario-- I MEAN games right? Now let's narrow it down even further, removing any game that Nintendo has been using the "finish it later" strategy for.
Starting to look a bit barren, but still not completely awful. Quite a few solid titles here. Now this will be more subjective, but I'm going to narrow it down to the MUST HAVE, built from the ground up, 100% Switch exclusive, acclaimed titles.
This is it. No fluff, no half baked filler games, no "meh" to "boring/lazy/bad" games. The Switch library largely consists of ports, remakes, and middle of the road sequels. In the short term, this has done wonders for Nintendo. People who didn't own a Wii U have it made. SO--
If it weren't for a lot of these critically acclaimed ports filling in the gaps, the Switch Exclusive lineup probably wouldn't be looking too hot. People are now noticing that games like Animal Crossing which launched with minimal content, aren't filling themselves out properly.
The Switch has also been greatly helped by the novel concept of portable console gaming, but that's an idea you can sell on that premise alone ONCE. Then we've been there, done that. The Switch 2 would be just that, why would you bother upgrading?
That is when the game library will be instrumental in the future system's success. And Switch 2 won't have a failed system's library of games to fall back on. So will the trickle of game releases grind to a halt with Switch 2? Or maybe we'll just keep getting ports of older games
I guess this is just a really long winded way of saying that I'm a bit disappointed with the Switch library thus far lol. It could easily turn itself around, but to me it just feels like Nintendo has been taking the easy route with many of their Switch releases.
Game development takes a ton of time, I don't take that for granted. I'm not saying that every game needs to be Breath of the Wild. But a number of these games feel like they exist simply for the sake of existing lol.

"Look, Yoshi on Switch! It's not great, but here it is".
I think the illusion is starting to wear off for a lot of people. I can't help but feel like the Switch 2 will be fighting more of an uphill battle. But I guess they'll always have that big Mario game to grab everyone's attention. Then all bets are off lol.
OK time to brace myself for a whirlwind of hate and vitriol instead of meaningful conversation lol. I'm sure a LOT of you disagree with me and love a lot of the games that I don't, and that's totally fine. Just sharing my own perspective.

Who am I kidding, I'm boned lol.
Me reading all the angry, confused quote rts that completely missed the point, and not bothering to clarify to them
