Pakistani court acquited Sawan Masih sentenced to death in blasphemy case on 6 October 2020. Asia Bibi was acquitted from charges in the Supreme Counrt in November 2018.
Pakistan maintained the record of not executing anyone under the blasphemy law ever since its introduction in 1986. Around 1472 have been accused under blasphemy laws out of which 730 are Muslims, 501 are Qadyanis, 205 Christians and 26 were Hindus.
75 people have been killed in Pakistan by angry mobs and individuals on the accusation of blasphemy during last thirty years, say 3 murders a year. Since 1990-2020 the homicide rate in Pakistan is around 900 every year therefore blasphemy makes 0.3% of the total crime rate.
GSP Plus status will expire on 7 March 2022 which gives preferential rates to Pakistani products exported to European markets. The trade wrap in terms of imports is upto the tune of 5 Billion Euros since 2014. European Union whatsoever is already grilling Pakistan in FATF.
Pakistan being host of millions of Afghan refugees should adopt a unanimous resolution in Parliament against the European Parliament and highlight the gross human rights violations in its territory and preventing three year old Alan Kurdi to reach Europe and died in sea.

Blasphemy also exists as a punishable crime in many other countries around the world, including a dozen countries in Europe. Punishment ranges from fines to prison sentences.

This is a self explanatory table to understand Blasphemy laws. Only 295-C offence i.e “Use of derogatory remarks against the Holy Prophet PBUH” is punishable by death. In order to change or repeal the law 2/3rd majority is required in the parliament.
