THIS!!! like these questions are also intentionally obtuse, but also responses that don't see beyond "good guys are boring" https://twitter.com/fangirlJeanne/status/1388128951097118729
there has been a widely publicised femicide in my city recently, and so i have thoughts on violence against women and non cis male folks perpetrated by cis men.
in fandom people talk about normalisation and fetishisation a lot. currently i look at the normalisation of cis male violence against women, and in this context also at the "good guys are boring" trope (?)
msm loves to sympathise with white cis male villains but msm's problem with the "good guy" isn't imo that "good guys are boring". the problem is, in patriarchy, a structure that hates and fears women, the idea of a cis man who grasps the humanity of those around him,
is an unimaginable concept for writers and creators. if they themselves are conditoned by a misogynistic society how would you create a convincing fictional character who doesn't.
the whole topic is definitely more complex, but many of the villains we adore because patriarchy has conditioned us to extend sympathy to white cis men, are also deeply misogynistic. but we prefer them to the "boring good guy" hollywood serves up
