I’m finally reading Haikyuu monthly volleyball issues, and Yanagida says he was actually more like Sakusa in high school: he felt “rather indifferent” during plays lmao
In high school Yanagida really admired Sawamura-san as a captain. He can speak logically, he can adjust his plays based on his kouhais’ state, he’s fairly passionate, and his field of vision is quite wide. “Are there even any high-schoolers like him” 😂
Karasuno’s winning streak at Spring High resonates with Yanagida, especially the game against Inarizaki. In his first year of high school, his team also had this “giant killing” of one of the tourney’s favorites, who were also from Hyogo (like Inarizaki) — a funny coincidence
sighs I can’t make threads so I’m adding this here https://twitter.com/triananero/status/1388474540875911179
Yanagita Mizuki remembers how, when she was a 3-year, they had to win one more game to go to nationals, but during that game her knee stopped bending, they lost. Coach told her: “You could’ve gotten a worse injury at nationals. It means you weren’t supposed to go there now.”
Onodera Taishi remembers how, in his 1st-2nd years in Tohoku high school, a manga artist would often come for research; then he heard about Haikyuu. Shiratorizawa was modeled after this school, and when it appeared, they were excitedly discussing who became players’ prototypes x)
Sekita: “I heard Haikyuu’s interesting, watched it, and it was so true! I do want to read what happens next in the manga, but I mostly only watch the anime, so I’m getting spoiled all over at our national training camp by the manga readers, and it’s absolutely agonizing.” WHEEZIN
