LMAO
no one will spoil your day like old white women in Pretoria. My mom and I went for breakfast at Mugg & Bean in Lyttelton. There was an old Afrikaans couple in the table next to ours.

We sit down for a minute and my cousin calls me, so we keep passing the phone to each other talking to her while eating. When we finish the call, the woman comes to our table.
She asks if she can have a chat with us. I already know sheās about to spew some nonsense. Iām like āokay, whatās up?ā She says we have no table manners. We canāt be on our the phone while eating. I put on my mask because sheās literally in my face.
Iām like okay, is it table manners to interrupt people you do not know to teach them about table manners? With that condescending white woman smile, she says āno, let me tell you something, guysā. Iām like no, actually youāre upsetting us now. Please leave our table.
She says āno,ālet me tell you something, firstā. Ndithi āplease leave out table now. Youāre being rudeā. Then she looks at my mom and says āokay, Iām not talking to you nowā, she looks at my mother. I say āplease leave my mother aloneā.
My mom says āye wethu khawuhambe apha, sudika. Hayi inoba lithumelo, mntanamā

now people start looking because I keep saying āplease leave us aloneā. Waitress comes to ask if thereās a problem, I tell her weāre being harassed. Old woman is turning pink now

Waitress says āmaāam, please go back to your tableā. She goes back. They have a short chat with her husband, they pay the bill. And then she comes back to our table, taps my mom on the shoulder and says āsorry maāamā. My mom says āmind your business next timeā.
They walk away, but she keeps looking back at us. Itās been a few hours now and Iām still so confused by that interaction. I didnāt even finish my food. How does someone just walk around giving unsolicited lessons on table manners? WTF?
