hot take: no one fakes having ADHD, if u feel like someone is faking bc they talk abt it “too much” what you’re probably seeing is overcompensation due to imposter syndrome, if u r annoyed by ppl blaming things on their disability don’t fakeclaim them, that’s likely a you problem
on average 8 out of every 10 adults with ADHD is undiagnosed, that statistic matters in these conversations especially when it comes to those who are a part of not just one but two or even several marginalized communities
i’m not necessarily talking about people who say “haha i’m so ADHD” because those are typically people who have very little understanding of what ADHD is, but being upset that it’s becoming a more common topic due to awareness and calling it “trendy” bc you’re bitter isn’t cute

adding to this: yes it is the responsibility of content creators to be careful and considerate about what information they’re sharing but it’s also the responsibility of the reader to fact check that information, if someone believes they have ADHD based on a vague tweet oh well
my point is, don’t blame the content creator (if they’re not spreading misinformation) for those few people who don’t fact check or research
if a some people think they have ADHD and later end up being wrong it’s not harming the community either because they clearly needed the community and its help/ support in one way or another
