So the tribe i came from called Pakpak. It's now consider a part of Bataknese tribe. Yet, antropolog still debate about my ancestors origin

1st theory : they come from India when Chola dynasty attack Srivijaya

2nd theory : they are just here from Indonesia (original tribe)
That's why i said i'm not perfect explaining my tribe 😂😭 (i can't speak their language too).

How can it be a part of Bataknese tribe? There are several theory too about it. The only thing i know is Pakpak people is easy to adapt & clever. They got close to the Bataknese tribe
Slowly they were being a part of Bataknese tribe (family bond). Honestly speaking, some of the ancestors family disagree about this 😭 (they literally had a war and seperate themself).

This is the story i knew, it could be wrong. Correct me if i'm wrong
According to the VOC file, my ancestors speak Malay and adapt fastly.

Westerners who were colonizers at that time also claim my ancestors ate human. Disclaimer they only ate colonizers (idk why this is funny 😂😭). That's the reason why no one ever come close to the real area.
The tribe had 2 area : open area & closed area. The closed area is growing faster and not open to colonizers. Several leaders will come to the closed area when they want to fight colonizers.

Open area is more open to everyone. They welcome everyone who wants to buy things.
I guess this is why it's hard to trace the history cause no one really touch the main area even in colonization era.

My ancestors family and tradition is very close to spirit. It's hard to explain but, they have spirit who help them. The tribe area is sacred.
No one allow to buy or own a land in there if they are not from the ancestors bloodline or relatives (it's kind of still apply until now). Even if you want to buy it, you have to negotiate with the leader. There will be rules and conditions.
Honestly i don't want to explain it very detail since i don't know if my ancestors family are happy about it or not 😭. Give me permission Grandpa, Granduncle, Great Grandpa...

The ancestors family own a big land in there even until now.
There is a thesis i found called they had this kind of mindset 'splendid politics'. I don't really understand the concept but, it means 'the one who enjoy harvest of the land is the tribe/ people who lives there'. So that's why they can't really let you buy their land 😭
Do they still have ritual until now? Last time i visited the yearly festival was about 6 years ago. They had yearly festival for each last name (marga). Each last name has different tradition of festival (i never attend other last name festival 😅)
I wouldn't say they call spirit but, yes they are 😭 (idk how to explain this well). I only can say the tradition is really close to spirit but, now they believe in religion. Yet, they still appreciate ancestors tradition.

That's enough to explain my ancestors i think 😂
Now what about me? Am i include in the ancestors bloodline? Yes, i would say that but, i didn't grow up there. My mother also not come from that sub-tribe.

Am i still close to the ancestors family? Yes, ofc 😂. I visit them yearly. Idk all of their names but, they are my cousin
My granduncle is honored there cause he fight for Indonesia 1945 war. I don't know the details (i don't even know his name) but, that's it. Why i don't know his name? Usually when people get older the tribe didn't expose the real name, they only show your initial & last name.
This year, they build a monument to honoring the ancestors last name. Idk when it's going to finnish (my uncle went there cause every family bloodline need to go there to give their permission and gives some help)
Fun fact : I have 2 last names because of this. Actually some people decided to lose their last names because of religion and it's kind of hard to take care of legal matters.

The 2 last names i have comes from Batak Toba sub-tribe and Pakpak sub-tribe
This is why i don't enjoy when people ask me what is my last name 😭. Everyone will ask me to pick what is my last name when they never know how my ancestors had fight about it. I can't explain it well so i only say i has 2 sub-tribe.

What about my father? He has 1 last name 😂
My grandpa decided to delete one of his last name. Even my grandpa didn't use his last name 😂. So why did i have 2? My father said 'i need to remembered where i come from'

I'm actually honored :) . The thing is it's hard to explain to everyone 😂
It's even harder to tell to anyone that i come from Pakpak sub-tribe 😭. People slowly delete their last name and i wouldn't angry :) . I understand it's hard. It's kind of hard to find someone who understand me beside my cousins 😂.
Also, i can't marry some ancestors bloodline last name group. The list going to be long 😂 (i don't even remember it). It's because they are my brothers or maybe the bloodline had blood debt to them... It's hard to understand but, that's it.
My grandaunt lives by having garden, rice fields, and farm. You will see a lot of forest before entering the city & village (if you don't know how to get there then, you'll be lost 😂).

One road for one last name. So everyone who lives on the road are my cousins & relatives 😂
Honestly my great grandpa ricefields is so big 😭. That's why i'm happy if i go there, i walk around the road without scared cause i know everyone are my relatives 😂.

Even my brother still get 1/8 land from the ricefields
The ricefields is so big even my father had explained 3 times to me where is his own section, i still don't remember 😂😭 (sorry to disappoint you ancestors). Now times has change, the rules to only gives heritage to boys doesn't really apply now but, it's still important.
If the tribe is really close to spirit will it goes to the decendants? 😂 this issue is so sensitive honestly. Everyone has different belief on this.

Yet, one priest comes to my house. She said yes, one of them lives in my house (don't ask me if i'm scared or not 🙃)
If i talk too much to you all i might not get any permission from my ancestors 😂. You can search the tribe in wikipedia too.
