“ Well ,I got 3 grants “ ... “hmmmm lucky you “ was my reply & then described the horror for all my colleagues in arts & entertainment who have received “NOTHING !” Then some guff about how badly Europe has behaved ....

I’m in a state of disbelief now ; my O/H put me straight .... “ honey , she just inherited loads of money from her aunt ; lives in the New Forest , owns her house outright ; has no clue how the other half live - what do you actually expect ?”

I expect empathy ,some kind of understanding that her experience in her posh house , on the edge of the forest is entirely different to a person in an inner city ; a person excluded from ‘grants’ and furlough ; I expect horror at Johnson’s cabal who locked down too late ...

I expect grief at the amount of people who have died ; how close we came to oxygen running out in our hospitals , sadness for single mums in tower blocks with no garden space ; I expect someone to care , to have compassion . The “I’m alright Jack “ attitude is hollow.

Has it really come to this ? A complete bypass of decency ... “ I got 3 grants” already owning a house , a bank account full of money & believing Johnson is fab ???? My shattered nerves - I don’t think I’ll call again . Going to my garden to work off my disgust .
