Some very good points in this article. But still: the problem isn’t what we call these targets but what they contain and that they’re now being used as excuses to postpone real action. Yes some ghg emissions will need to be balanced out, so calling targets ”net zero” makes sense. But our main concern should be to first actually include all emissions in our targets as well as the aspect of equity while of course making immediate emission cuts at the source. 2/n
Of course we must use what we have; frameworks, agreements and goodwill. But as this is clearly far from sufficient we cannot be satisfied with that alone. The sense of urgency and action needed is still nowhere in sight. 3/n
