We’re roasting 3 years today and I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved. We run our business uniquely to any other in Ireland and I wanted to lay out how/why. Any RT’s to spread word would be great.
In our first year we donated 1% of all our coffee sales to @Womens_Aid and also bought the entire harvest for Europe of an organic all female co-op in Peru.
In this year we also brought Panama Gesha, the worlds most highly regarded coffee to Ireland. @cafedepanama
In year two we decided we would donate an additional 1% of all our coffee sales to projects at coffee origins. We built a footbridge in the co-op we buy from in Colombia and appeared in a newspaper there too which was a real buzz.
My co-workers are the business. They’re all amazing so are paid well over the industry average. In year 2 we decided they would also share 1% of our coffee sales. Our part timer earns above the living wage.
In year 3 we funded another footbridge in Colombian co-op and a wet mill in the all female co-op we buy from in Peru. We’re also involved in local things that we don’t count in the 2% we give. https://imbibe.ie/story/
We have brought coffees here that are the actual world’s best and which I believe break Irish records for price of greens as we don’t feel quality needs to be a trade off with ethics.
In the last year we have ended up donating 3% of sales and not the 2% we intended. We’re now at capacity and will look to buy a larger roaster. Our business model works.
If you’re still reading then thanks. Thanks also to our customers both wholesale and from the site and a special thanks to Damian of @DarkWoodsCoffee and @HowardCoffee . I think we have an authentic business and I hope authenticity is worth supporting.
