For people who can't protest physically for whatever reason there are so many other ways you can support! A thread. ⬇️
1. Arrestee support: be on standby to offer emotional & practical support to arrestees when they are released - with food, transport help, warm clothes and legal support. Follow @GBCLegal to see how you can volunteer.
2. Check in on your friends: check in on the people you know who are attending protests. Make sure they've got home OK and be on hand to offer emotional support.
3. Use social media: share online posters, hashtags & resources to spread awareness on what people on the ground are fighting for.
4. Posters, stickering, banner drops: get creative! You may not be on the ground at a protest but you can support by printing posters and stickering around local areas to raise visual awareness.
5. Donating: there are always organisations and causes you can donate money to, and resources that help support the protests (such as speakers, mics, and other equipment)
6. Online rallies and virtual protests: you can plan a twitter storm, post photos on instagram of you holding up a sign, or host an alternative 'online protest' or event to raise awareness with others who also can't attend. @SistersUncut will be hosting a virtual space today.
7. House / pet sitting and childcare: you may be needed to hold down the fort at squats, to physically look after children or house sit pets of those attending protests.
8. Social media support: you can offer social media support to organisations who will be on the ground protesting - so that you can update their socials live, and be there to answer messages for urgent calls for support.
