Thread: Why I like outside-the-box thinking of @Bengals adding Miami (OH), OT, Tommy Doyle in RD 4: Perhaps no player’s potential draft stock was hurt more by COVID than Doyle. The MAC did him no favors canceling, then trying to squeeze-in a short season https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/scouting-reports/tommydoyle
Doyle’s emergence was suffocated by the loss of a season, & w/ no combine, despite an invite, Doyle was forced to impress teams at a humble pro day in Oxford, OH (not exactly a “must,” stop in scouts’ travel plans). Despite little fanfare, Doyle displayed ELITE athleticism https://twitter.com/mathbomb/status/1379048677625405440
Doyle isn’t just athletic, his measurables are PERFECT for an OT... Remember all the chatter about Sewell & 33” arms?... Doyle’s arms are: 35 1/8”!!! Add those poles to a 6’6” 320 lb frame & 10 3/8” hands, & Doyle seems as if he were made by an OT machine! https://www.nfl.com/prospects/tommy-doyle/3200444f-5968-6038-2474-c99b0bbd9816
W/ 3 picks in the 4th, the @Bengals have discretionary ammo to gamble on Doyle being their future RT. RD 2 pick, Carman’s moving to OG. Doyle can learn behind Riley Reiff, while Frank Pollack molds his insane/perfect size/athleticism/length/potential/ceiling into a pro-bowl RT https://twitter.com/dpbrugler/status/1324116161651449857
At this point in the draft, I’d say the only OT left who possess a perfect blend of size, experience (started at RT & LT for Miami U), athleticism, length, aka, literally everything you could want in a starting OT, is Doyle. The cherry on top - Doyle plays w/ a nastiness/edge! https://twitter.com/real_kylo/status/1261319755346165761
Please 🙏 @Bengals take Miami University’s Tommy Doyle in RD 4 #WHODEY! END THREAD. https://twitter.com/real_kylo/status/1261317884359344128
