This is probably going to be a long and fairly inaccurate thread based solely on my opinions and will include some pretty bad takes backed by what I hope to be a decent amount of facts but I urge you to bear with me especially if you have been anything like me-
- If you come at me for being ignorant and cancel me, I concede I have been, but if that's the case this thread isn't for you because you already cared through your privilege or lack thereof even. That is the point of this, awareness, and I don't know where else to put it -
- No one's a fan of our government, not just through the plethora of injustice faced by women and other minorites over the past year and more, but even the current crisis. This has given everyone a lot to think about, but that's all it has been, dissent. -
- If you've done more I wish I was as good at this and aware about these things as you but this is just my thought process. I recently came across an article that showed how an IAS officer managed to near singlehandedly control the 2nd wave in his district -
- This reminded me of how all throughout my life I have heard that it's probably one of the most difficult things in India to achieve, to become an IAS officer. Yet a chai waala can become the prime minister? Not to take anything away from chai waalas but seriously? -
- this is the eligibility criteria to become an IAS officer
and on top of this you have to clear 2 tests facing off against the brightest minds in the country with unreal cutoffs and to top it off a personality interview -
- In contrast here's what it takes to be the PM
-
- If you don't see it already don't read further because I'm about to spew some next level bullshit by calling democracy the equivalent of a popularity contest on par with bigg boss. We might as well vote in our government by sending in texts -
- if you think my take on the popularity contest is bad and you have a similar argument read this, -
- again I'd love to be wrong about this, trust me I didn't choose to wake up feeling so fucked over by an entire system it almost feels like I'm missing something so obvious something so blatantly in my face that would explain all of this but I can't, at least not in India -
- If you're like me as much as I'm ashamed to say it, I realised this yesterday. During a conversation with friends. With friends who have been equally privileged or even more perhaps, who claim to be political and are of 23 years of age and haven't voted once. -
-This does NOT exempt me by any means. My only point is what the actual fuck why is the standard to be a democratic leader to only be a kissass for the majority, and to spread awareness about this. I'm 21 and as much it shames me to admit it now but I don't even have a voter ID -
-
- I can only speak for myself here and to an extent, my friends, but at least I have been terribly ignorant about our country and even a shit citizen honestly for caring this late. Cancel me for reeking of privilege, I'm not taking this down because -
- This isn't for you if you already knew about it, that's a great thing I wish I was you and more people were like you. But if this is the off chance that you reading this, relate to me even fractionally, talk to your own friends. Your best friends, your parents anyone who -
- matters to you enough that you'd go " alright I wouldn't want my family to live in a country ruled by tyrants pretending to do good work ". That's all this is, it's just me saying tell your friends, vote when you can next time, please. Let's not pay for the boomers' mistakes -
- it doesn't matter if you saw too much of yourself in what I had to say, it only means you understand the consequences of being ignorant and you can change it. -

Sorry if I wasted your time but I hope you vote next time and vote better, don't be me
