IDK where Green was on the Rams' board, though he was projected by many as a fit, nor how it may or may not have influenced trade back. But if more picks are a priority (they were), and a player you want isn't there anymore (but others still will be later), of course you trade.
To me, a trade there shows you believe the board is falling toward you later than the pick point, and maybe a guy you had rated at that particular pick point is already gone.

and estimation is the best I got until I can ask - and even then, we may still be in the dark.
