One thing I love about the starship construction system in #StarTrekAdventures is that every ship, even two ships of the same class, is it's own entity. Unless you go out of your way to make them identical, even two sister ships will be distinct from one another. 1/7
The two ships in this thread, the U.S.S. Condor and the U.S.S. Tempest, are both part of the "discretionary fleet" attached to Starbase 24 in my #RazorsEdgeSTA campaign. While Starfleet Command wanted to be more conciliatory towards the Klingons, in the interest... 2/7
...of enhancing the peace brought on by the Khitomer Accords, the station's commander, Admiral Andrew Spain, insisted that the station's fleet should have some teeth. Years of serving along the Klingon border had made him leery, and he wasn't about to take chances. 3/7
Eventually, Starfleet gave in and assigned two Miranda-class cruisers to the station, and both were armed for bear. The Condor had actually been assigned along the Klingon border for several years, and had a certain reputation in the Imperial fleet. Where Starfleet... 4/7
...Command had feared that Spain's actions would antagonize the Empire, they had the opposite effect. The Klingons admired Spain's stand, and appreciated that he still held them as a credible threat in spite of the Empire's weakened current state. 5/7
Since the game uses the same basic mechanics for ships that is uses for characters, it's easy to make ships that look just the same on the outside into identifiable individuals. The Condor and the Tempest have the same spaceframe and the same mission profile. 6/7
The two ships, though, are clearly different from one another thanks to their Talents. The Condor is hard to kill, while the Tempest is more maneuverable and can deliver a devastating amount of weapons fire.
