One thing I love about the starship construction system in #StarTrekAdventures is that every ship, even two ships of the same class, is it& #39;s own entity. Unless you go out of your way to make them identical, even two sister ships will be distinct from one another. 1/7
The two ships in this thread, the U.S.S. Condor and the U.S.S. Tempest, are both part of the "discretionary fleet" attached to Starbase 24 in my #RazorsEdgeSTA campaign. While Starfleet Command wanted to be more conciliatory towards the Klingons, in the interest... 2/7
...of enhancing the peace brought on by the Khitomer Accords, the station& #39;s commander, Admiral Andrew Spain, insisted that the station& #39;s fleet should have some teeth. Years of serving along the Klingon border had made him leery, and he wasn& #39;t about to take chances. 3/7
Eventually, Starfleet gave in and assigned two Miranda-class cruisers to the station, and both were armed for bear. The Condor had actually been assigned along the Klingon border for several years, and had a certain reputation in the Imperial fleet. Where Starfleet... 4/7
...Command had feared that Spain& #39;s actions would antagonize the Empire, they had the opposite effect. The Klingons admired Spain& #39;s stand, and appreciated that he still held them as a credible threat in spite of the Empire& #39;s weakened current state. 5/7
Since the game uses the same basic mechanics for ships that is uses for characters, it& #39;s easy to make ships that look just the same on the outside into identifiable individuals. The Condor and the Tempest have the same spaceframe and the same mission profile. 6/7
The two ships, though, are clearly different from one another thanks to their Talents. The Condor is hard to kill, while the Tempest is more maneuverable and can deliver a devastating amount of weapons fire.
I hope you enjoy these. Thanks for your time. 7/7
