Finally got canceled irl for being a "white vegan" lmao
Elaborating on this because it& #39;s a discourse I& #39;ve seen online that has always been baffling to me and I just had it for the first time irl: 1/7
It seems that if person a says "I think it& #39;s unethical to eat meat because if you can avoid killing something that feels pain, you aught to." Person B rebuts with "This is racist because Native Americans live harmoniously with nature and use every part of the sacred animal." 2/7
And like, this just does not follow as a well thought out rebuttal for me. One, it works under the assumption that there are literally zero native vegans in the world. 3/7
And two, if person a& #39;s argument is rooted in empathy for the animal, saying "well certain cultures kill them in less torturous ways and use all their resources" is just...not a compelling rebuttal to the core ethical framework of "don& #39;t kill something you don& #39;t have to." 4/7
This core difference in philosophical outlook then somehow then gets twisted into person a trying to enforce a colonialist system of ethics onto native people. 5/7
