After more than a year of blatantly flouting COVID health restrictions, Artur Pawlowski may finally have serious consequences coming for him. Art likes to say that this is all tyranny, and that he is being targeted for 'doing the right thing and feeding the homeless.' 🧵👇
Within the last few days, Art has received a court order authorizing AHS and CPS to use whatever means necessary to inspect Art's church, which has been defying pandemic restrictions and abusing AHS inspectors who arrive at the church. https://twitter.com/JaneQCitizen/status/1388260266794577920?s=20
"Look at how many tickets I have for being persecuted for my faith."
'Look how many times people have tried to hold me accountable and I didn't listen.'
In the grand tradition of yt christians co-opting social justice movements for their own purposes, Art views his resistance against reasonable and desperately-needed pandemic measures as the same as MLK and the civil rights movement.
Today he posted a dubiously-sourced letter, and some inspirational images to show the righteousness of his cause.
"Not in love with publicity, but in love with humanity."
(MLK)
Art loves to call people out for their hypocrisy, so let's take a look at how not in love with publicity he is, and just how he treats the humanity around him.
Art's love for the spotlight goes back further than Jason Kenney's relationship with mom jeans.
A shy, retiring type. Art is typically more concerned with pointing people toward Jesus than any kind of shameless self-promotion. 🙄
I mean, Art's just a easy-going guy who likes to have a good time with his brother Dawid, and who REALLY loves him some Stephen Harper.
(Because when I hear Stampede, I think 'US civil war cosplay'.)
But Art's not all that obsessed with promoting himself and meeting politicians and 'celebrities.'
He would rather just keep quietly to himself, and allow others to have the freedom of their own beliefs and decisions. 🙄
Because Art has been so vocal about defying restrictions, people may not remember that during April 2020, when we first had our 'mockdown,' Street Church actually closed down for a couple of weeks.
Art loves feeding people specifically in the middle of downtown, where everyone can see him. SC actually drove around delivering food to the homes of those in need, but didn't get enough credit for it, so they gave up and went back to the spotlight at city hall.
Art is so not in love with publicity, that there isn't a 'documentary' made about him, detailing what a good person he is, and how much the city just hates him because his hundreds of good deeds make them look bad.
Since the Calgary municipal elections are coming up in Fall 2021, it seems like a reasonable time to remind folks that PGIB gave Art their 'Free Speech' Award in 2012 for being such a bold community leader. (Really, @craigbchandler?)
Let's talk about Street Church, though. If I was new to the city, what could I expect? Let's see. For folks who like a crowded, mask-optional homophobic sermon with their alfresco meal, ask your doctor if Street Church could be right for you.
Your *cough* nutritious food will be prepared by *cough* probably health-trained folks, and to save space, different meats will be cooked together. Don't worry, though, none of the people from the church will eat this slop, so more for the homeless folks.
'Entertainment' will be provided, and plenty of reading material. It's basically just a Calgary institution at this point.
Don't worry, though, Street Church would never violate confidentiality by posting pictures of the people who attend without their permission, particularly children and seniors. And for BIPOC who are there, you definitely won't get your picture taken to prove they aren't racist.
But now the fairytale may be coming to an end, as Art may finally be held accountable for his willful disregard for the health and safety of others.
So many great people are coming out of the woodwork to support Art in his time of need, like Rudy Giuliani's forehead dabber, Jenna Ellis, and actual nazi Sebastian Gorka.

Art is salivating over the possibility that he might get as famous as Pastor Coates in Edmonton, who I've noticed has been staying pretty quiet since his release last month.
Art hasn't been doing any succession planning to make sure that the homeless are fed if he is locked up, rather the non-self promotion angle is to 'Save Pastor Art' himself.
I mean, come on, folks. This is just a person who thinks his religion should write city policy, makes hateful public speech, can have permanent dibs on city centre, and likely continues to facilitate COVID spread, but we're not going to take them down for that, are we? 🙄
Larry's blistering vocal chops aside, Street Church continuing to operate in this manner is a threat to public health. This isn't evangelism, this is bad public relations.
Art isn't asking for volunteers to help his outreach, he's asking people to save him so he can keep being the face of the ministry.
