Regular exercise is an important part of managing stress in your life and developing a positive mindset

That’s because stress can build up inside your body as extra energy, which can manifest as anxiety and cause things like insomnia
Physical activity helps burn off that energy and reward you with feel good hormones like endorphins

But if you want to take your workout up a notch, why not include some mindfulness?

Here’s a look at how to beat stress by including mindfulness into your workouts.
What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is all about focusing on the present moment

It means taking your focus from the internal into the external
It’s easy to get lost in your thoughts, especially if you’re stressed about something

Being stuck in your head can lead to a rush of automatic negative thoughts

And the more you repeat those thoughts, the more you believe them
The whole purpose of a workout is that it’s supposed to be time that you spend working on yourself

How can you accomplish that, and work on strengthening your body, if you’re spending the time still stressing out about your problems?
Using mindfulness in a workout helps you pay more attention to how your body is moving during your workout

That includes posture, speed and form

The more you pay attention to your body’s actions during a workout, then the more efficient and effective your workout will be
Mindfulness during a workout means that you’re tuned in to the world around you

So when you’re doing a workout, use the 3 senses mindfulness method ⬇️
1. What do you feel?

If you’re running or walking, how does your foot feel when it strikes the ground? If you’re lifting weights, how do they feel in your hands?

Notice the sensations without judgment.

Observe them.

That’s what being mindful is all about.
2. What do you smell?

Whenever I go for a jog, I always notice my sweat. It reminds me that my workout is working!

Focus on any scents
3. What sounds do you hear?

Is it your breath whooshing in and out? Your feet striking the pavement? Are you listening to a playlist that pumps you up?
