Every time I talk about Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear, someone will mention its reputation of being thinly-disguised porn. But there is no explicit sex in the book at all!

There *is* explicit sex in the sequels. I know this because I started reading Valley of the Horses today and have already encountered a very comprehensive sex scene. So obviously there is some commutation of that from the sequels to CotCB.

Anyway, I thought the sex scene was pretty okay, all things considered. Not the best I have ever read (that would be Richard Amory's Song of the Loon) but definitely not the worst!

In the few minutes it took me to write this thread, I received multiple replies saying "But there is lots of sex in the sequels!" More replies than most of my tweets get in hours! Anyway, in Clan of the Cave Bear they also hunt mammoths. No one ever mentions that!!! :P
