"These humans are bad news, Deku."

"Kacchan, you're being paranoid. They're harmless!"

"Don't you see what they're doing to you?"

Katsuki scowled at the bipedal vermin who was hacking into a magnificent century-old oak to collect "wood" for his "house."

Izuku shrugged. "It's only one tree. They don't take more than what they need."

"For now," the Sun bit back.
"Kacchan, you're being ridiculous," the Earth laughed. "Humans are fascinating! They're the only species I've created who have nearly the same sentience as we do!"

Katsuki scoffed. "The dinosaurs were cooler."

Izuku laced their fingers together.

"We killed them all though."
"It was an accident," Katsuki huffed, glaring at a human who rubbed two rocks together, creating fire that should come from the Sun and the Sun alone. The fucking /audacity/ of this hairless ape.

"We could have another 'accident' now," he growled, pulling the other man close.
"Oh no you don't," Izuku huffed, pushing him away. "We are /not/ going to wipe out my humans too! They're just getting started!

"That's the problem," Katsuki grumbled. He can't shake off a bad feeling. "I don't think it's a good idea to let them do whatever they want."
Izuku sighed impatiently. "Kacchan, I am the immortal source of life itself." He rolled his eyes. "These humans may be more intelligent than any creature on earth, but they're just /mortal/ in the end."

"Seriously, how much damage can they really cause?"
.
.
.
.
.
"Why do you love them so much?" Katsuki snapped as he tended to the fresh burns on Izuku's arm. The humans recently discovered how to cultivate land and were now razing fields to give way to their crops.

"Fuck, look at what they've done to you! And what they're doing!"
"Oh, hush," Izuku chided, wincing at the balm Katsuki applied. The Sun whispered spells into his skin, and while the pain abated, the scars would remain until the land itself healed. "It's actually pretty impressive!"

"Impressive," Katsuki deadpanned.
"Yeah! Their imagination is uncanny and boundless!" The Earth chirped excitedly, his numerous wounds already forgotten.

"Look at all the tools & contraptions they've invented so far! The wheel! The lever! And they've tamed wild creatures to help them in their daily tasks too!"
They're /enslaving/ them," the Sun argued, but Izuku was too far enamored with those hairless apes to heed his warnings.

"And the way they flock together as a group is really interesting too!" The freckled man chattered on.
"They're building communities, Kacchan! With a language & sets of rules & beliefs. They call it 'culture' and oh! Do you know that they worship us as their gods? So cool!"

Katsuki ground his teeth at the starstruck look on the planet's face. The dread in his gut grew further.

"Izuku."

"I'm okay," the planet sniffed, hastily wiping his tears before Katsuki could see them. But he already did. There was nothing in his galaxy that the Sun couldn't see.

"You're a shitty liar," Katsuki sighed as he pulled the smaller man into an embrace.
"If they're already bothering you so much, just start over."

"No," Izuku mumbled. "That's not fair. Only a few of them are killing and hurting each other. The rest simply wants to live in peace."

"They'll never fucking stop," the Sun parried.
"This shitty species has always been neck-deep in conflict. I see violence in their actions each day. They will never change."

"You don't know that," the Earth protested. "You don't hear the prayers of their children, or the cries of mothers when their sons go off to another war
Humanity is flawed. I know that! I'm not blind or naive, Kacchan!"

"But humans have goodness in them too," Izuku uttered softly, rubbing his eyes. "They create things beyond my wildest dreams. Art, music, poetry--so much beauty and wonder blooming from their bright minds."
Izuku paused, taking a long, shaky breath before giving Katsuki a familiar look of determination.

"Kacchan, you spend your days up there, alienated, while I spend my time down here. I play with their young. I dine with their warriors. I gossip with their wives."
"Yes, they are capable of inflicting so much pain, to themselves, to each other, to me." Izuku reached out to tenderly stroke Katsuki's cheek, eyes brimming with fondness.

"But, my dear Sun, these humans you despise, are also capable of so, so much /love./"
Izuku bridged the gap between their lips, the kiss surprisingly sensual. When they paused for air, the planet's smile turned devious.

"They're, ah, also very well-versed in the art of pleasure," he whispered into his ear. "I learned a lot of new things I think you'll enjoy."
Katsuki raised an eyebrow at that. He's known Izuku for billions of years and he could easily tell when the planet was trying to distract him.

But then smaller man began kissing & sucking at his neck while fingers groped his chest, playfully flicking and twisting his nipples.
The Sun groaned, unraveling under the earth's skillful touch. For now, he would indulge his lover, but Katsuki's worries still nagged at the back of his mind.

The humans were multiplying and evolving too quickly, their minds full of ambitious creativity.

They were dangerous.
Katsuki could only hope that Izuku realized that too before it was too late.

Before those creatures caused damage that even the god of life himself cannot undo.

"Kacchan! Stop!"

"No!" The Sun roared, his anger scorched the earth, making all crops wilt and the water sources dry up.

"You're going to kill them!" Izuku wailed, arms hugging Katsuki's waist, desperately trying to hold him back.
"They fucking deserve it!" Katsuki howled, sending another wave of blistering heat to the earth. The livestock dropped like flies. Those humans who didn't immediately perish began to starve to death.

"After what they just did to you, they all deserve to burn!"
"It's fine! I'm okay!" The Earth cried out frantically.

"Okay?" Katsuki echoed in disbelief. He rounded on the sobbing planet. "Izuku," he reached out and to gingerly cup the other man's. "They're violating you."
The Earth shuddered, arms wrapping around himself, wincing when he brushed against the fresh sores and festering wounds soiled by grease and soot.

More & more of his forests had been cut down to build sprawling cities. His hair sported brown patches, reflecting the bare earth.
Izuku coughed, lungs struggling against the thick dark smog that clung to the air like a second atmosphere.

His joints ached from the explosions that hollowed out his mountains, from humans digging for precious metals beneath his skin.

Humanity had entered the Industrial age.
"I-I'm fine," he croaked. "Please don't hurt them."

"You fucking think I'd just stand by & let these pests torture the one being I love more than anything in this universe?"

"It's not too bad," Izuku pleaded weakly. "My body will get used to this. I'll heal, like I always do."
Katsuki glowered. "No."

"Please!" Izuku grabbed his arm. "Kacchan, you can't do this!"

"Oh I fucking can," Katsuki sneered, eyes flashing. His body glowed fiercely & Izuku recoiled, hands burned by the heavenly power of the stars. "I am the Sun: king and ruler of this galaxy."
"I govern everything inside it, and that includes /you/."

The planet whimpered, bowing his head in unwilling submission.

The Sun swallowed the bile that rose up his throat when he saw the look of betrayal in Izuku's eyes.
"I'll give you a month to say your goodbyes to the wretched apes," he declared, turning away before he's swayed by the other man's pleas. He heard Izuku's heartwrenching sobs, but Katsuki pushed on, knowing this was the right thing to do.

"After that, humanity will be no more."

CONTINUING THIS THREAD!

Here's the link back to the start of Part 2! https://twitter.com/princejaelofba1/status/1388278946848907267?s=20
The month he spent estranged from Izuku was the longest Katsuki had ever gone without seeing the green nerd ever since the planet was pulled into the Sun's orbit.

Thirty days in Earth time should pass as mere seconds to him, except they felt like /years/.

Katsuki hated it.
He hated not seeing his lover, hated the way Izuku wouldn't meet his gaze, wouldn't greet the Sun at dawn like he usually did.

He hated the way that hateful polluting smog clouded Katsuki's view of his beautiful Earth, hiding his beloved from his all-seeing light.
Katsuki longed to take the other man back in his arms, to feel the unique warmth of /life/ pressed against his skin once more.

He's been burning for billions of years and yet, somehow, only this small planet's touch could set his nerve endings on fire.
But then Katsuki recalled the way Izuku looked the last time they saw each other, and the renewed anger was enough to hold back loneliness.

He wasn't going to change his mind. Those human fuckers bastardized his great love! The Sun would gladly watch them all /burn./
When the time came, numerous solar flares exploded all over Katsuki's surface, radiating heat for thousands of miles. It was the hottest he'd ever burned, so much so that it even reached Shinso at the edge of the galaxy.

There was no way any human survived /that/.
But when Katsuki looked into the earth, peeking through holes in the thick smog, he found the humans still very much alive.

What the fuck?

Bewildered and furious, the Sun marched towards the planet, only to find himself unable to get past the atmosphere.

There was a...barrier?
"Oi, Deku!" Katsuki shouted, slamming his fists repeatedly against the transparent shield that encased the earth. But it wouldn't break; it barely even budged, which was a testament to its strength.

"Fuck! Izuku!" He called, growing desperate. "Izuku! Let me in, damn it!"
Finally, the clouds at the other side swirled & parted, revealing the Earth god himself.

Katsuki's breath hitched at the sight of his lover, but not in a good way.

No, not when Izuku looked like /that/. Shit, his moon looked /better/ and that Kota brat had craters all over.
"Izuku," he whispered, his voice cracking in his distress. "What the hell is this?"

"Ozone," the planet replied, a sad smile set on his sickly pale face. The freckles were gone. "It was made to withstand you, so you can't break it no matter how hard you try."
"How the fuck did you manage to make this in a month?!" Katsuki growled, hitting it with the strongest explosion he could muster. But his furious rays merely glanced off the clear surface.

Izuku shook his head. "I didn't," he murmured. "It began forming the day life was born."
The Sun frowned. "But I never had problems visiting you before."

It's after the words left his lips, that Katsuki realizes the truth.

"You," he faltered. "You were /letting/ me in?"

"Of course." Izuku's smile turned bittersweet. "I've always loved watching the dawn arrive."
Katsuki caught the resigned look on the other man's face and felt his chest tighten painfully. This...he needed to fix this. He needed to get this damn shield off and bridge the miles of distance between them.

"Izuku," he repeated, softly, pleadingly. "Let me in."
But the Earth merely closed his eyes. "I can't."

And when he opened them, Katsuki saw tired green eyes shining with a determined gleam. "I won't."

"You're choosing them?" The Sun snapped, his voice growing shrill with disbelief. "You're choosing those pests over me? Over /us?/"
"I'm /saving/ them," Izuku answered, quietly, but the resolve in his tone rang loud and clear. "They are my children, Kacchan. No matter what they do, I will always protect them."

"Even if it kills you?" Katsuki rasped. His chest hurt so damn much it was getting hard to breathe.
"I'm not going to die," the Earth replied, but even then, he sounded less certain than he was millennia ago.

"You don't know that," Katsuki argued, and fell to his knees, hands clutching his chest. He could feel his heart--the heart that Izuku had awakened--breaking into two.
"Even so," the planet turned away. "I'll still save them all."

He left Katsuki there, barred outside his domain, & walked back into his polluted world, disappearing behind the thick smog.

While the Sun continued to rage against the barrier that kept him from his beloved Earth.
Years passed into decades.

Katsuki continued to watch the Earth from a distance, his heart splintering into more pieces every time he caught sight of Izuku's rapidly declining state. He looked gaunt and sickly, his curls now brown & steel gray, with rare patches of green.
Then the century turned and the first World War broke out.

When he peered through the gaps between clouds, Katsuki found Izuku in the middle of a battlefield, cradling the body of a soldier as more blood seeped into his skin, and helplessly begging for everyone to stop fighting.
His green robes were torn by swords and riddled with bullet holes. The ends were singed by heat from sparking gunpowder and dynamite.

His freckles replaced by splatters of red as the delicate balance of life and death was completely overturned.

Katsuki clawed at the ozone.
The barrier remained as strong as it did the first time, silently mocking Katsuki's failure to save and protect what mattered to him most.

"Izuku!" He tried calling, but the Earth could not hear the Sun over his own anguished screams at the violence played out on global scale.
Katsuki couldn't do anything else but watch as the love of his life suffered profoundly for 4 years.

When the war ended, Katsuki released a sigh of relief. It didn't change much, but at least he won't be hearing Izuku's tortured cries day and night anymore.

Or so he thought.
The next world war came barely two decades later. And it was much, /much/ worse.

Katsuki didn't find Izuku in a battlefield. No, this time he found Izuku in a country up in the north, standing over the emanciated body of a little girl with numbers tattooed on her inner wrist.
He wasn't screaming or crying. He was just...staring at her, his face hidden by shadows. The only clue to his emotions was a notebook, some sort of diary, nearly crumpled in his grip.

Katsuki had never seen him angry before, but he knew right then that Izuku was fucking /livid./
The seas became more hostile, derailing the navy. There were storms hitting countries every week, making it harder to conduct aerial bombings. Earthquakes shook the land, postponing the battles, raids, invasions.

The entire world felt the Earth god's rage and cowered.
And yet, despite Izuku's best efforts to stop them, humanity carried on, determined to satisfy their bloodthirst no matter the cost.

It all came to head on the final year of the war, when mankind literally dropped a bomb that spelled the beginning of the end for the poor Earth.
All the planets saw the resulting flash of an explosion far more powerful than anything Katsuki could currently make. The ozone trembled as the atmosphere twisted ominously around the mushroom cloud, filling Katsuki with dread.

/Izuku/, he panicked. /I need to find Izuku./
And Katsuki did find him, writhing on the poisoned ground of the city that was no more, retching out bile & blood as he cradled his horribly mangled right arm. A huge chunk of it had been blown off & whatever remained was burned to a crisp.

The Sun fell on his knees and /wept./
