I've just posted this NFT-revenue-splitting-to-support-opensource-projects feature proposal for @hicetnunc2000 and would very much love your support/upvote or at least thoughts/consideration:

Isn't it ironic a 3D render, GIF, art piece made w/ open source tools not just quickly yields more income, status & higher incentive than putting in 1000s of hours working on the tooling/frameworks/community which allowed people to create & benefit from such works in 1st place?
As much as we celebrate digital art, its democratisation, diversity, free access etc. - where's the acknowledgment from the NFT crowd of the thousands of people who've been working on these creative tools used to make the hot-selling works NFT platforms are being flooded with?
If a 30sec GIF made w/ Processing (or OF, or Blender, or....) can make $1000s within a few hours, where's the incentive for people passionately working on these tools, yet struggling to make similar amounts in a year? What's wrong with our value judgement here? Is it wrong? 🤷‍♂️
Of course, we're now already seeing the NFT world organizing into new tribes & communities (which are real/valid) - but I'm currently having high hopes for particularly the H+N crowd (as chosen home for much the generative art glitterati) to pay more attention to these matters...
...and to be a leading light for the other platforms. To clarify, I've just started dipping my toes into this scene and as much as I can see a lot of benefits to artists/makers, I fear/sense the smell of short-lived gold rush blinding/misdirecting our long-term incentives...
Proof-of-Stake vs Proof-of-Work is just one aspect which NFT platforms can set themselves apart with, but there're many more to consider IFF (if-and-only-if) the real interest is in creating an artist-focused, rather than speculative economy...
Artist-focused also doesn't just mean NFT artists supporting each other by collecting each others pieces. If the platforms aren't curbing or at least addressing the underlying speculative nature, they WILL eventually succumb to pure speculation & all the other negatives it brings
TL;DR this isn't a hot take or subtweeting anything - just my personal view after 0.5 weeks of getting more into this exciting world and trying keep an open/critical mind...
