something that just crossed my mind while i was having a big think is that, the dream team didn’t invent/normalise irl shipping?? i feel like that’s this big misconception that a lot of people seem to believe, idk why.

irl shipping was (and still is) very much normalised in the 1 direction fandom, which honestly kind of sucks because if i remember correctly, the members that were being heavily shipped, felt uncomfortable by it, and asked multiple times for it to stop.

another, even worse situation, was when the child actors of It and Stranger Things, were being shipped with each other,, that’s children, being shipped together, not the characters that they were playing, but the actual actors. just a TAD bit iffy if you ask me.

the dream team have specified multiple times that they’re okay with the shipping, endorsing it and laughing about it, making jokes about it. it isn’t something that they were just like “oh yeah um, ig, yeah that’s okay,, :/“ about.

all this being said, shipping irl people is still a very iffy topic, and you should not do unless the person you’re shipping has given express permission that it’s okay.
“oh but, they haven’t said it’s not okay,” that doesn’t matter, they haven’t said that it IS okay.

there is also no need for you to make the ship your entire online presence and personality, being too obsessed with something like that is honestly quite dangerous, and can make other people uncomfortable.

if we’re talking about dnf and the other dt ships, please listen to nblm and mlm when talking about it if you’re not in those groups, if they tell you what you’re doing makes them feel uncomfortable, stop, simple as that, it’s not up to you on what makes them feel comfortable.

as someone who used to have a very very strong dnf hyperfixation and is now out of it,,

some people take it way too far
not everyone of course, some people are chill about it and nice and just go about their life and are cool
