There's this song that anand patwardhan once sang and it's like a lullaby. I keep going back to the song. It's on loop most of the days before I start the work. Even Rage and Sage get attracted to it every time the song plays. It barely has any instruments supporting his vocals.
Plus there's barely any audio output setup. Even the audio quality isn't great cause someone shot it on phone. Plus the way he starts off by saying "it's not about talent, it's about enthusiasm". I think it's the lyrics that work wonders for the song. I mean it's not even a song.
It's a poetry written by daya pawar. I mean of course it has to be good. And anand performing it. His whole stature. His hair, his red kurta, the way he hold the guitar. The way he laughs in the beginning. So gentle. Not taking away anything from the lyrics though.
Written by legendary Daya Pawar. All the marathi poetry I learnt studying from marathi medium is nothing in front of his poetry. It's raw, upfront, sad, laborious. We were mostly taught philosophical bullshit UC poetry till 10th standard. It spoke about beautiful things mostly
His is like Soyarabai's poems. Openly spoke about what was wrong with the system. They suffered, and literally put that into words. UCs didn't so all they cared was beautiful nature around them. Ohh look at that flower. So gorgeous. This and that bullshit about life, philosophy
One more thing about their poetry was that it was practical af. Almost like call to action, unlike UC poetry which intellectually masturbated till last verse and then our teachers would ask us what did the poet mean when it was comparing a flower to lover or whatever.
Also, it's cute how Anand starts off by saying "This is song by one of India's greatest poets Daya Pawar". The poem is about building a Dam. A Dalit building a dam for UCs while they suffer for a single drop of water. I love how gently he presents the song.
There's suffering, anger in the poem but he gently sings it. As if to make it into a lullaby so that it's more accessible. Just like his voice over in his latest documentary "Vivek reason". Almost hypnotic voice.
Presents it as if it's some DD news reporter calmly talking about the chaos around. I'm sure Daya Pawar wouldn't have this version of presentation in mind when he wrote it. It's really sad, depressing, angry. I don't know if the poem has any English translation. Imma look it up.
FOUND IT! Shit I should have put the song up in the first tweet of this thread. Ugh! I don't voluntarily listen to music so maybe that's why. Work fills my music quota in a non recreational way. So yeah my weird ass doesn't listen to much music. Song in the next tweet.
