one last thing because i can't stop thinking about it and im as weary as im angry.
before anyone says i'm saying all this because i have a grudge against white writers in people in this fandom out of jealous or some other nonsense:
1. way to silence a PoC with valid concerns and
2. if there is a grudge it's born out of anger. this isn't the 1st time we have this discussion. it's not the 5th even. and it won't be the last unfortunately.

this isn't about be diverting a racist issue and making it about my own issues; it's about me recognising the racism i
experience on a day to day basis in these stories, in their authors.

yes ofc i love the tannies and i would defend them against injustice but I wouldn't do it blindly. I recognise them as human beings; i see their faults and their mistakes and i can see the harm they caused. but
seeing them as human beings is also seeing their growth and the immense respect they've shown for other cultures in the past. it's also me recognising that as PoC they are victim of racism, a racism that too many of you turn a blind eye to in the name of fiction.
it's not okay to think that not doing the bare minimum resaerch to make your story respectful and authentic isn't necessary. it's not okay to put the fictionalised version you created of them over the actual people they are. it's not okay to put those fictionalised versions
into historically violent stories because that what YOU know and like. it's not okay to talk about killing one of them off in your stories bc he disappointed you. it's not okay to equate them to white people. it's not okay to only write overly sexualised version of them. it's not
okay to write them as grown men sleeping with underage kids and then pull the "it's fiction" card when you get called out for it. it's not okay to dismiss PoC who brings legitimate concern to you as the "fandom" being toxic. you are white or western, writing in a fandom about PoC
with predominantly bipoc reading your stories. You have to understand all that it entails. you have to respect those voices, those existences. you have to own up to your mistakes. you have to hold your friends accountable the way you hold bangt4n accountable.
bts are a once in a lifetime experience. it could've have been such an amazing fandom, we could bring so much to each other. we could learn and grow so much together. we could be and do better. that starts with you and your direct mutuals.
