That one time where I created 22 social media posts and edited 4 videos for $150

Or in short

That one time I let a client play tf outta me because I had lost my mind for a second

👇🏿
So about four years ago a friend of a friend was looking for help managing her social media

My friend asked me if I could help. I agreed and said I would create the content and post the content annndddd engage on her platform for a whopping total of $400

👇🏿
She and her husband owned a renovation business and wanted to boost their online visibility.

Now, this was right after I realized I hating doing web design so I was like hmm maybe I’ll try social media shit to see how I like it

Two days later she emailed me and was like
“I’m sorry but $400 is currently out of my budget”

I felt bad and I needed the practice so I said fuck it I’ll do it for $150

So I sent over the contracts and shit, she signed and paid the invoice

Shortly after alllll the headaches came my way 👇🏿
She had a problem with any and everything even when I followed her directions to the T.

She always responded “I don’t understand” whenever I needed something from her

She would send over project pictures with ZERO context

👇🏿
She would also text late at night asking random questions myself or Jesus didn’t give two shits about at that time

So the week her contract was going to be up I emailed her to provide her with an update

👇🏿
In the email I gave her a folder of all the content, written captions, and hashtags I used so she can continue to use them

I also let her know that I scheduled an additional week of content for her for FREE as a thank you for working with me 👇🏿
And why did I do that? Clearly because I’m an idiot

I told her that if she wanted to continue working together she would need to pay full price

She then got upset, blocked me, and locked me out of her account 👇🏿
So I basically created one week of content for NOTHING.

Long story short don’t ever negotiate your prices because

One you’re probably undercharging anyways

And two they’ll do nothing but want more and more and more
