For the “of course they didn’t give Rodgers another weapon in the first round” crowd, Adams, MVS and Lazard combined for 16/244/2 in the NFC title game while King and Sullivan got torched opposite Jaire. You tell me what position they need upgrades at more to make a Super Bowl.
On paper, this draft is deeper at WR than CB. Some seem to forget they drafted Davante, Jordy, Greg, Randall and James after the first round. If Rodgers was happy with the team and had to make the pick last night, hell, he might’ve taken a CB.
Bottom line, Gutey is concerned about drafting for the team, not Rodgers. Yes, his No. 1 priority is saving the relationship with his QB, but methinks drafting a WR last night wouldn’t have done anything to significantly improve their standing with Rodgers or their SB hopes.
