Thoughts on this :

As far as I'm aware, I think there's a parallel program for the rollout of vaccines for both the Government and the Private Hospitals. Now, if I'm not mistaken, the Delhi Gov as far as I know isn't planning to start with its vaccination drive for all (1/n)f https://twitter.com/ShereenBhan/status/1388158978656399360
for all tomorrow itself.
The Private Hospitals in Delhi such as Fortis however will start their vaccination programs in full swing and are not gonna stop for quite some time now.
Seeing a situation like this, I think people are ending up with the conclusion that (2/n)
the vaccines are being supplied en masse to the private hospitals that are hoarding it so that they can in all totality further their profits.
However, I don't think that's the case. I mean if you pay attention to this info graphic, the cost of a single Covaxin is 1200 (3/n)
Yes, it's 1200 for the Private Hospital. The extra 50 rupees is the hospital charge for the vaccination which I think is very normal especially in a private setup.
So what about the Government Institutes that were supposed to give it for free? (4/n)
Well there's two things here,
(1). The chain of supply and distribution in the Government sector is not very efficient. The logistics are not good in this sector.

(2). It depends upon the state you're in. For eg, in UP, in Lucknow, the vaccination drive begins tomorrow. (5/n)
This vaccination drive begins for both, the government as well as the private sectors. So yeah, free vaccination starts for Lucknow tomorrow. Sure there's a delay for the smaller cities but that's because of certain shortcomings on the part of the Government as a whole. (6/n)
No denying that. However, the thing to keep in mind here is that it's neither the Government nor the Private Sector that'll begin work in these small towns and cities. They'll start functioning together when the vaccines are in stock.

Now take Delhi for eg (7/n)
Yeah so I'm gonna go ahead and say that Arvind Kejriwal is an incompetent man and can not run anything straight. The utter failure of the Government here to acquire the vaccine doses can be attributed to the mismanagement and the amount of money he's spent in his ads. (8/n)
This however does not mean that the private sector won't do it's job. No, the vaccines are available, they have their own capital, they'll buy the doses set out for them as per the parallel rollout and will start their program.

This isn't them hoarding the vaccines (9/n),
No, it's the government that's incompetent and that can't do it's job well.
So yeah, if you want your shot from a Government hospital, guess you gotta wait for some time now.

Don't blame the private sector as always. (10/n)
