My favourite GP calls to the ambulatory care line are when say “I don’t want to refer this pt, I just want to run this by someone to make sure I’m not missing anything/there’s nothing else I should be doing here” (or similar)
Then I get to hear a really interesting case.

Sometimes (rarely) I have a useful suggestion to make, or a resource to offer in amb care, and sometimes I just say “I really can’t think of anything to add! Your plan sounds good. That’s what I would do in your place”.

It’s fun ‘cause
-I don’t usually get to talk to GPs
-I understand the need to sense-check stuff&I like to be helpful
-I like going thru new interesting cases & working stuff out (hello, acute medicine)
-I get a little peek into GP world (& they get a little peek into mine)
