The messaging should have started changing from Sep but all we got was:

"Don't celebrate Diwali"
"Don't celebrate Durga Pujo"
"Don't celebrate New Year"
"Don't celebrate Holi"

Now we are in a situation where too many believe, "No, thanks, I will take my chances with Covid."
India has been living under heightened Covid stress since March last year. You expect people to live under constant stress for 12 months straight and still take Covid restrictions seriously? At some point, people will just say fuck it and there's nothing you can do about it.
The Twitter Demography is overwhelmingly from the Ultra Rich, Rich and Upper Middle class sections of society and yet, every policy has been designed keeping in mind the elite sections of this particular westernised elite demography.
People have been hearing constantly all the time 24/7 that Covid was coming, Covid was coming, Covid was coming since Sep. But Covid did not come. Covid instead went on the decline. Ever read the story about what happened to the boy who cried wolf too many times?
But then again, wisdom is far more evident in hindsight. And this is a once in a century pandemic. No country has survived unscathed. USA, Italy, Germany, Spain, France. All have suffered. I guess we were naive in believing that we will come out of this without too much damage.
The Twitter Demography is again begging for a national lockdown. And this is regardless of political inclination. Chances are they might even get their wish. Will be a disaster if that happens. An unmitigated disaster.
