Sustainable forestry—in the sense of a multi-generational project of nurturing healthy forests and maintaining the human systems that allow us to maintain them and benefit from their services—may be the most underappreciated long-term climate solution.

Forests not carbon farms.
Working woodland landscapes, with foresters who understand their watersheds (and ecological nuances and heritage complexities), including working with fire, keeping an eye on restoration into a different climate future... that, with the public investment to make it work.
Living and working within forest ecosystems we plan to depend on for at least a millennium, and acting like it.

Or we can just continue to treat them like tree farms in resource colonies and watch them fill our skies with ash every summer.
