the stupidity of the variants/border debate may truly break me. this isn& #39;t hard: variants that originated elsewhere *obviously* came in through travel. But this isn& #39;t new info. They& #39;ve been here for over 4 months. Province has *actively* contributed to their spread via bad policy
knowing that the variants have been here, (remember it tore through a Barrie LTC in Jan), this province *chose* to loosen restrictions, forgo adequate ventilation measures in schools, refused to shutter non-essential workplaces, not employ rapid testing for surveillance, etc
so much of our political media frames this as a "ooohhh feds v provinces: battle royale" but that doesn& #39;t really track. fairly or unfairly, the lion& #39;s share of daily pandemic management and response falls to the provinces. provinces with good leadership have done well
and this isn& #39;t a jab at conservatives, small or capital c, bc this goes way beyond partisan lines. *waves to Horgan in BC*
