If a token is doing a “burn” that means that the creator of the token controls all of those tokens that got burned. The burn is a courtesy instead of doing a rug pull, which they easily could do.

I can’t burn more DOGE than I own. I own about 155k. I would like to keep them.
If you would like to reduce the supply of Dogecoin you are more than welcome to burn your own coins and that’s up to you, but unless you think it’s cool to demand people to literally destroy their own money, probably don’t demand me or the devs or anyone to burn their coins.
There is a big difference between tokens and cryptocurrencies. With a token, the creator gets all of them to start. With a cryptocurrency like Dogecoin, those coins are earned by mining, so they get distributed. That’s why many tokens are scams and subject to rug pulls.
