A declaration nobody asked for:

Kohei Horikoshi's politics are... pretty generally terrible. MHA/BNHA has a genuine, powerful heart at the center of it, but the moment he strays from an individualistic lens, his view of the world skews conservative/regressive REAL quick.
- Super-duper cop friendly
- Criminals commit crime bc they're bad ppl and we need to punch them to un-crime them
- "My self-insert is a serial molester and I find this hilarious (Mineta)"
- Trans ppl can exist in my world only as long as they're wealthy and can pass (Tiger)-->
otherwise they're misgendered and fridged (Magne)

...I say this because if, with my love for the best parts of MHA, I can acknowledge this loudly, and acknowledge the importance of talking about it/not dismissing the bad parts, hopefully it can encourage ppl in fandoms-->
to be less precious about doing the same with theirs.

You don't ALWAYS have to talk about the bad stuff, either. Sometimes I just wanna watch my hero show. But like... the art you absorb affects you, however subtle.
How you frame narratives, how you evaluate whether people who did certain things are empathetic/redeemable/worthy of condemnation/removal, how you address societal impacts... "life imitates art" is a phrase for a reason. Through not hand-waving it and actively engaging with-->
the good AND the bad, you gain a more nuanced, literate sense for navigating things ESPECIALLY if you yourself are a creator in some way, shape or form.
