I wish to narrate a real life incident of my friend.

My friend's father (let's call him X), a 75 year old man with diabetes and high BP tested positive earlier this month.

We wondered which hospital to admit him - municipal or private.

The decision was taken out of our hands, when we realised that municipal hospitals had no free beds. Similar was the case with the private hospital nearby.

After inquiring with several hospitals on phone, we got one 5 kms away from the house. We felt relieved.

By evening 8 pm, he was admitted in the private hospital. Next morning around 9 am, his oxygen levels started dropping. The doctor gave us the prescription of Remdesivir injection.

The pharmacy attack to the hospital didn't have it.

We asked several friends/pharmacies/distributors etc. Nobody had it.

Around 11, the ward boy of the hospital offered us to get the injection if we paid him Rs. 1000.

Keeping the current situation in mind, we agreed immediately. But he said we were in queue.

Our number came around 7 pm. He asked my friend to reach a location by 7.30 pm. He went there. He realised that in 200 metres, there was a municipal hospital.

The ward boy went there and got the injection. MRP was around 899/-. Bought it at Rs. 4500.
6/9

Don't forget the charges of the ward boy. Total money spent Rs. 5500.

He also assured us of as many injections as we like.

X needed injection at 9 am, got it by 8.30 pm. Almost the delay of 12 hours. Imagine the situation of my friend.

Fortunately X survived and was back home healthy and Covid free.

We tried to chase this ward boy. But neither his number works today nor can he be identified (remember these wear masks and head caps with uniform).

People die not because of Covid but because there's no timely treatment given. The complete system is corrupt.

A private hospital is connected with the local municipal one and so are the people.

That's the reality. The shortage of medicines seems to be just a myth.

Please understand this is all politics. For obvious reasons, I'm not disclosing the details of the location.
