Actually I find reality shows like Undateables and Love in the Spectrum quite problematic in some aspects
-Lack of LGBTQ people, there's a research paper indicating that almost 70% of autistic people identify themselves as queer (I guess it's only cis straight couples on LiotS)
-The idea of "Undateables". Insinuating that the we're undesirable and we can't find love for ourselves. This is so awful in so many ways
There's many autistic people married on in love both with other NDs or NTs and they are happy afaik
And this is also valid for other disabilities of course
The public exposition. They use the contestants to rise ratings with that "aww that's so inspiring" trope.
"Look at them, it's so cute seeing atypical people trying to be regular ones, they're trying hard to be people as us"
The last but not the least: they assume we can't be autonomous and need always the kind hand of a typical person to achieve anything. Ok, we need help in some things but we're capable of helping each other, and typical people can help us without erasing our autonomy
Without doing everything for us
And finally without imposing their way of life, hope you like this thread
