as yanis notes here, anyone active on twitter/youtube/reddit creates the value that enriches the ghouls who own them, and the vast majority get no compensation bc they can't or choose not to monetize it. that's why what yanis proposes here is so important
none of these sites would function without its users, they would have literally zero value. but now we have created the absurd situation where people who voluntarily and freely create that value do so for some multi-billion dollar corporation and get nothing out of it themselves
the plan yanis proposes of putting 10% of these companies' shares into a public trust fund to be distributed universally is a great first step to a complete democratization of them, and also helps ensure that they will be much more accountable to their user-base than they are now
