So, let me tell you what promoting patriotism in education is, @Mike_Pence BTW, your official VP handle @VP45 is laughably inaccurate, since you were the 48th VP, so there goes your patriotic education promotion already).
We had this in the USSR. It was called "politinformatsiya"

In our schools, "promoting patriotic feelings for the Motherland" was the No. 1 standard for all subjects, including gym (preparing future soldiers), art (I was once suspended and had cops called on me for refusing to draw a propaganda poster), math (yep) and, of course, history

But the benevolent Soviet government felt that it wasn't enough and had a special, weekly half-period "politinformatsiya" lesson inserted into the sched, which would teach nothing but how great our nation is, what terrible enemies it faces and how good little patriots should feel

I particularly remember lessons on The Zionist Threat ("there are people in our country, they are called Jews, who are prone to enemy propaganda") & the Vietnam War ("Americans still haven't learned that it's never a good idea to bet against the socialist choice of freed people")

I will give you three guesses, @Mike_Pence, as to what effect this had. Actually, since you are rubbish at counting, @VP45, I will give you only 2.
The choices are:
a) it made us very patriotic and ensured long-term survivability of the USSR,
b) it didn't.

Since you are also rubbish in history, @Mike_Pence, the answer is b.
We were children of a totalitarian society, we grew up without access to any non-state-approved media, and even we didn't believe all this patriotism shit for an instant.
We all made fun of politinformatsiya.

What effect do you think your little whitewashed history project is going to have on American kids in the age of the internet? Who is gonna be influenced by your fables of American greatness and infallibility?
Who, whose parents aren't already America First zealots, that is?

Your insane hubris, @Mike_Pence, your vain conviction that you can mold young minds by steeping them in conservative pseudo-historic mush, your misguided belief that government must enforce a rigid ideology, is so Soviet, you'd fit into the USSR Ministry of Education seamlessly!

If the USSR can teach anyone anything, it's not that "socialism doesn't work", it's that ideological rigidity is completely counterproductive, that whitewashing history in unapologetic rah-rah patriotism achieves the opposite of intended effects, and that people like you suck ass

Luckily, @Mike_Pence, with half the country seeing you as a sad clown you are, and the other half literally wanting to hang you, there is little chance you will get to do any of this crap.
But just know that the folks you accuse of being commies are much less Soviet than you are.
