[Fundraiser Alert]: @Berkeley1India Covid-19 Fundraiser

Learn more about our mission to send oxygen concentrators to India & consider contributing at: http://tinyurl.com/SSIBfundraiser

A thread on why this is important to us at @Berkeley1India and what we aim to achieve: (1/n)
As India grapples with a brutal second wave of Covid-19, the availability of oxygen tanks and concentrators has become a public health emergency. It pains us when we hear devastating stories of hospitals running out of oxygen supply and feel helpless sitting here in the US. (2/n)
As a responsible Indian organisation on the @UCBerkeley campus, we believe it is our duty to gather the Indian community at Berkeley in a bid to help India in this fight. We need to pool our resources together and solve this critical problem of oxygen supply. (3/n)
We have partnered with the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), the Indian embassy, and other Indian orgs across the United States working in partnership with the North American Association of Indian Students (NAAIS) to help address this issue. (4/n)
We are hoping to raise $10,000 to ensure that twenty oxygen concentrators can be directly sent to government hospitals in India. The shipment of concentrators is scheduled to leave in a week, thus making timely action extremely important. (5/n)
Every small help counts so pls consider joining to this initiative and make sure we stand with our fellow Indians in these difficult times. We have already raised $1, 680 in the last 24 hours (can send 3 oxygen concentrators at least) and hope to reach our target this week! (6/n)
Requesting @Cal alumni and current students to join us in our efforts and help spread word of this initiative (a RT would help too!) amongst their family and friends in the US and India. Thank you. @ra9z @supriya_sule @prithvrj @acharyaamrit @vbubber (7/n)
Will keep updating this thread with updates about the fundraiser as the week goes on. (8/n)
