Specifically, I asked the BBC whether the Chief Adviser, Politics, was consulted on Gibb's appointment – as I believe would be expected under its Editorial Guidelines.

I am merely of the belief, perhaps an old-fashioned one, that all BBC staff should have to follow editorial guidelines – and especially senior board members who've formerly worked for the government
