i decided to write mini-obituaries for the captains that die during my playthrough of sunless skies. here are the first two. god, i am loving this game

its very fun to write these so far. the second one was tough; they lasted quite a lot longer than my first captain, and did a ton of different stuff, so i had to choose what to keep in without making it too long.

stuff that i didn't include in the Doctor's obituary: they didn't give a shit about politics, and just sided with whoever paid more. they had a friendship with the Incautious Driver- they were one of the only consistencies on the ship, and managed to break down the Doctor's walls

the coup actually happened on an expedition to help the Driver, and led to my favorite image so far: after the attempted coup, after most of the crew were dead, the Driver and the Doctor stood looking out onto this black hole(?), which was where the Driver needed to go

this is the driver's dialogue during that moment. it was so perfect and evocative, this almost terrifying moment of catharsis after the chaos that happened just a few minutes before. so fucking good
