No mainstream news outlet is going to come out and say it, but we all know banning menthol cigarettes mostly means banning Newports which mostly means banning the cigarettes black people smoke

Not allowed to talk about that but it's the truth
They've already very tepidly tried to spin this as a health benefit for the black community

But you'll never see the truth of the matter run, which is that this is going to cause a lot of problems in the black community
Nicotine withdrawal is notorious for making people agitated and angry

And people are already pretty agitated and angry
what this menthol cigarette ban is going to do is not get rid of menthol cigarettes, it's going to just make menthol cigarettes illegal

Its going to actively and drastically increase scenarios that involve both police and black Americans as an attempt to enforce the ban occurs
Tensions between cops and citizens, white people and black people, and especially cops and black people are at an all-time high

So what advantage will increasing tense interactions between all these groups actually have?
If cops have a problem using unnecessary and lethal Force specifically against black people in relatively mundane and minor altercations

What exactly is the benefit of increasing mundane interactions between police and black people?
And let's not act like this is anything new

It's pretty well documented that both Biden and Harris have a history of creating laws that disproportionately impact the black community

It's almost feels like a culmination of a life's work
Illegally transporting cigarettes is a felony, they're probably going to bill the sale of menthols in a similar way

The most *mundane* side effect of this whole thing will be a huge spike in the number of felonies and that spike will disproportionately impact black Americans
If the charge is a felony it also means getting caught is a huge deal, meaning resisting arrest is much more likely
"protect the revenue"

Lmao
Hasn't the entire argument AGAINST the war on drugs been that all it does is increase unnecessary arrests for something that doesn't harm anyone?
