I'm going to rant for a bit. Kindly excuse. Or mute. Or unfollow. When the pandemic hit us in March, we were told by the government that all we need to do was to stay home for one day. Then one day became 21 days. Then the goal post shifted and we were asked to bang plates and
spoons. Then we were told that things are slowly inching back to normal. The government said it was ok to get back to normal life. The government told us that the worst was over. They said India had won the fight against Corona. The world was in awe of us and was learning
to cope against this virus from us. At no point were we told that things could get worse. We were not warned of a second wave. We were told that if you mask up, you were fine. You could attend weddings, you could go to your parties, you could go back to work. Everything is BAU.
After a year, people were more than ready to believe the government when they said that we have won the fight. It was getting tiring. There were extensive narratives around why the community transmission in India was not as bad as the word expected it to be. No one had any
answers. But we were willing to accept that it was low. Today, the pandemic is wreaking havoc on the country. The government was unprepared. It was clueless. And yet, the blame is being shifted on the people who were careless. People stopped fearing the pandemic as much.
Yes, they probably did. BECAUSE NO ONE TOLD THEM THAT THE WORST IS YET TO COME. Today, people are getting help, not because of the government but in spite of them. Nameless, faceless people are coming together to help people. But there's only so much they can do. Elected leaders
of this country have failed us. Modi needs to resign. Amit shah needs to resign. Harsh Vardhan needs to resign. If not Modi, then who? Even a spec of dirt will do a better job. I'm angry. We are angry. This anger has to mean something. It has to lead to something. You. Yes, you.
Now is not the time to be apolitical. Now is not the time to "support your government". Now is not the time to be positive. Now is the time to hold your elected representatives accountable. Don't stay quiet. Do your bit. Put your money where your mouth is. Volunteer.
Educate. DEMAND BETTER. Be a patriot. Don't be ok with the funeral pyres. Don't be ok with the apathy. Don't be ok with the inaction. Enough is enough. </end>
