Cis people are not taking up limited special-edition trans slots. No.

Instead, many trans people downplay their own transness because they don't feel like they're "Trans Enough" to be part of the community. Takes like these *harm* our people. https://twitter.com/yungtyranny/status/1387437153026772997
The idea that people are flippantly identifying as trans for clout or to be popular is TERF rhetoric that has no basis in fact.

And the idea that it's Better For The Cause to stay a cis woman than to explore if transness is right for you is more TERF rhetoric and harmful.
"Gender is a construct" doesn't mean gender is fake.

Money is a construct, but I still need it to buy food so I can eat and stay alive.
I'm really very tired of this galaxy brain thing where trans people act like nonbinary folks are Hurting The Cause by not pretending to be cis.

Nonbinary women who use she/her and present as feminine are valid and part of the trans community (if they want to be, of course).
My take is that it would be absolutely grand if every cis person had the space to take a "gap year" of gender exploration where they tried on different labels and asked themselves what their gender is and allowed themselves to consider that they might be trans. Bc they might be!
And takes like these that argue you're basically a woman if you don't feel 100% Definitely Not A Woman For Sure hurt people who needed time to edge away from "cis woman" to whatever they really are.

I needed, what, FIVE YEARS?? to come out as a trans boy??
I'm glad I didn't see takes like that five years ago because I definitely would've turtled down For The Cause and been miserable and possibly dead. Bleh.
- You don't have to have dysphoria to be trans.

- You don't have to have a masculine side (or feminine side) to be trans.

- You might have dysphoria or a masculine side but *not realize it* until you've explored being a Not-Cis, Not-Woman For awhile. I speak from experience.
Also, like. There are agender people who present as feminine (willingly or not) and use she/her pronouns; that doesn't make them cis hetero women! I'm just stunned by this take.
