. @CuratingCamille asked how did I get started in photography. Here's a thread for you. Thank her later.
I was lucky enough to have him become my mentor as I grew up and I just followed him around on shoots , events, what have you learning photography as an unofficial PA.

( I still put it on my resume and it's still on my linkedin )
Skillshare and youtube really wasn't popping' like that when I was 12 - 15 , so I just shot on that film camera whatever I liked and sent the rolls to Walgreens to get developed.

A lot of trees. A lot of sunsets. A lot of looking at light.
If I wasn't reading a book around that age I did spend HOURS looking at people's photography on Flickr.

Here's a album titled: Learning on Film Rolls 1 - 8 https://www.flickr.com/photos/sierrachastity/albums/72157627054188722
By this time I was in high school and spent the summer waking up for sunrises and playing in the middle of the road.

Look at baby Sierra figuring out how to set a timer for a self portrait. đŸ˜©
I love details and would get lost in nature playing with the focus.

These tones are so nice here. Great job Sierra.
Fast forward to sometime around Freshman year of college. I got a Nikon DSLR and would come back home to capture church events + catch up with my family.
By then he was teaching me editing and retouching.

( which I hated because I eventually learned Im a natural light photographer but he still said I had to learn )

This is my Mom. He took the photograph and I edited it. We had it printed and framed as a birthday gift.
I eventually changed my major from Criminal Justice to Art in college and the rest was history.

The first photograph that I showcased in an exhibition was my Grandfather.
