Here's a thread of some photos from my drive to Yellowstone today. These are the only species of big mammals I saw: a few hundred bison, a few dozen elk, and a few pronghorn.
Spent a fair amount of time yielding the right of way to bison.
There's still some snow, up high and on north-facing slopes.
"I swear to God, officer, the bison DNA on my bumper is because he rubbed on it himself, I had nothing to do with it!"
When you're out on the trail looking for wildlife, they're probably back at the trailhead checking out your car.
Highway 89 through the Paradise Valley on the way to Yellowstone is breathtaking.
I didn't see any bears today, but I'll end this thread with a Yellowstone photo taken by my Dad in the early 1950s, on 35mm slide film. One of my favorite photos I have of his.
