so in order to clinch a spot on their own, montreal needs to be 9 points ahead of the flames after their last game. https://twitter.com/Ech28/status/1387976487421288449
calgary maxes out at 61 points, so montreal can clear them with 11 points before the season ends.

(vancouver is still in it, but they keep losing so it's less of a factor)
MTL: 4-6-0 in their last 10. At that pace over their last 8 games, they'd get to 57 points.

CGY: 6-4-0 in their last 10. At that pace over their last 7 games, they'd get to 55 points.

Flames have to play two points above the pace of their last ten games, if that makes sense.
If the Canadiens manage just 6 points in their last 8 games (which is quite likely), the Flames could get in going 4-1-2 if the ROW works out in their favor.

This isn't over yet.
I do feel rather confident in saying that 8 points probably gets the Canadiens in for sure.

But that's enough midnight math for one day.
