if you are not jewish please don’t ignore this. i know there’s a lot going on in the world but i promise it wont take longer than 5 minutes.

just earlier this year houthi militias in yemen deported what is known as the last of the country’s jewish population, putting an end to years upon years of ethnic cleansing.

the yemeni jews are a jewish diaspora group who migrated from the kingdom of israel around 3000 years ago. the majority of them were brought to israel during operation magic carpet in 1949-1950. those that remained faced violent antisemitism on the daily, for the past 70 years.

the houthis have been holding a yemeni jew named levi marhabi as prisoner and have been torturing him for the past 4 years. his alleged “crime” was helping another jewish family bring a centuries-old torah scroll with them out of yemen.

there was a court order for his release in september 2019, but he has yet to be freed. his health has continually diminished and he is now at risk for covid-19 as the living conditions within the prison are obviously very poor.
