Sometimes I wish the folks screaming about class war would actually spend a day in the jobs they seem to care so much about. 1/n
Sometimes I wish that these folks knew how demoralizing is when your pay is so low & childcare is so expensive that you are basically only working to pay for it, so you have moments of actualization when you can use all your education and brain power to its fullest capacity 2/n
For years I worked in that vicious cycle in jobs with low pay that covered childcare and gas. My husband’s salary (thankfully) covered everything else. I am grateful now but I haven’t forgotten that feeling. 3/n
I wish these class war folks, these folks who hang onto their tenuous familial ties to poverty and desperation, felt the imperative to strive for all we can in our careers & education, that many us whose families have risen dramatically in a few generations do. 4/n
