I don't mind a lower than 50k salary if we have the following:
Childcare subsidies
Free, top class public schools (lool at how parents get their children in to public schools abroad)
Free/subsidized public housing (don't get me started with the box type resettlement house)

World class public transport that gets you and your family around in no time (yes, Singapore is the gold standard - cheap bus and train lines)

Bike Lanes and Parks! - you don't need to spend if your family spends the entire day at the park.

37k sounds good if you are single and fresh out of college. 60k, with a family is barely sufficient. Loans will give you the lifeline until retirement. Ever wonder why middle class parents try to get their kids into Pisay? No tuition for 4 years!
